Lorde, the Grammy-acclaimed singer celebrated for her chart-dominating smashes like "Royals" and "Green Light," found herself ensnared in a thorny predicament with anti-terrorism authorities, stemming from a series of unexpected turns in New York City. The 28-year-old musical maven had meticulously orchestrated the filming of her latest single's music video amidst the scenic splendors of Washington Square Park. Yet, after casually slipping the teaser on her Instagram Story, an overwhelming mob descended upon the locale, prompting the police to swiftly shut down the venue amid heightened safety concerns.Lorde gets in legal trouble as arrest threat looms 1

Subsequently, anti-terrorism officers issued Lorde a stern warning, highlighting that any recurrence of such chaos could land her behind bars. During her appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," the singer recounted, "The anti-terrorism unit was incredibly intense, informing me that stepping foot on the premises would result in my arrest for inciting a riot."

Unable to proceed for several hours, the "Royals" crooner eventually returned to the park under immense pressure to conclude the filming. She elaborated, "I returned later, and they granted me one chance, saying, 'You can go out and make it count.'" She continued, "For those unaware, we were not only unveiling my first song from the album but also shooting its music video, scheduled to release within 24 hours. Hence, there was an urgent need to expedite the editing process."

"A myriad of factors had to align perfectly for this endeavor to succeed, and the NYPD certainly threw a wrench into the works," she added with a hint of frustration.

In response to Lorde's revelations, police affirmed their intervention was necessitated by her lack of the requisite permits to assemble fans in the park.
