Ray J, the 44-year-old singer, songwriter, and actor, whose real name is Willie Norwood and is the younger brother of multi-platinum recording artist Brandy, was arrested early Thursday morning in Los Angeles following an alleged domestic dispute that was reportedly livestreamed on Instagram. The 911 caller reported a potential custody dispute and claimed that Ray J was possibly armed, leading to his booking at LAPD's Van Nuys Station with a bail of $50,000.

Reports from celebrity outlets such as TMZ state that during the livestream, Ray J was caught on camera grabbing a handgun from the table and engaging in an argument with Princess Love Norwood over the custody of their children. The couple, who have been married since August 2016 but have filed for divorce four times, share two children together: Melody Love Norwood, 7, and Epik Ray Norwood, 5.
Ray J is well-known for his hit songs "Wait a Minute" (feat. Lil' Kim), his 2005 single "One Wish," and his 2008 song "Sexy Can I." The couple, who also starred together on "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood" from 2014 to 2019, appear to be in the midst of their ongoing divorce proceedings, with a petition for divorce filed in February 2024 in a Los Angeles courthouse.
"Good Morning America" has reached out to Ray J's attorneys and a representative for comment on the matter, which has once again brought attention to the often-contentious nature of their relationship.
