Reese Witherspoon is addressing a rampant online scam that has been circulating, and she's doing so with a warning to her fans. Indeed, the "Legally Blonde" alum has shared a message to her followers after discovering that online scammers have been using her likeness to extract personal information from people.
"Hey, this is important," she said in a TikTok video on January 14th. "I want to tell you what I've been dealing with for the past 24 hours. There are multiple people on TikTok and Instagram impersonating me, and they go into people's DMs and try to build a relationship."

The "Big Little Lies" star added, "They try to extract personal information and plan meet-up times. I want you to know this is not me." Despite her frustration with the swindlers, Reese is more concerned about her fans' wellbeing.
"It's so upsetting that people would use my name to manipulate others," she continued. "But I want you to know that I would never manipulate you. I would never reach out to you for money, private information, or to create a meet-up time. So please look at these accounts that are doing this and make sure they're verified."
Reese, 49, knows the issue extends beyond people impersonating just her. "This is not just me; it's happening across the board," she added. "But it's really upsetting to me that this is happening on such a large scale. So please be careful out there and please know I would never reach out to you to manipulate you or take anything from you, okay?"
The "Four Christmases" star's warning comes after Sandra Bullock previously spoke out about a similar ordeal involving online users impersonating her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado.
"My family's safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern," Sandra—who is mom to kids Louis, 16, and Laila, 11—said in a statement released in February 2025. "And there will be a time when I will comment more, but for now, our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter."
"Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media," the 61-year-old continued. "Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me."
