Regina Hall is poised to shine alongside Will Ferrell and Zac Efron in an untitled comedy film produced by Amazon MGM Studios, promising a laugh-out-loud experience. Nicholas Stoller, who has penned the script himself, will take the director's chair for this project, which was initially titled "Judgment Day." This venture marks Stoller's reunion with Ferrell, following their successful collaboration on "You’re Cordially Invited," which premiered on Prime Video earlier this year and also boasted Reese Witherspoon in its star-studded cast.
The narrative of this upcoming film revolves around a young convict, played with zest by Efron, who, upon being released from prison, storms an unscripted TV courtroom, believing that a harsh ruling by the judge (portrayed with flair by Ferrell) derailed his life. Meanwhile, the specifics surrounding Hall’s character remain shrouded in mystery, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the plot.
Producing the film are Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alex Brown under the banner of Gloria Sanchez Productions, alongside Stoller, representing Stoller Global Solutions.
Hall's presence can soon be felt in Paul Thomas Anderson's gripping "One Battle After Another," sharing the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio, and in Searchlight Pictures' groundbreaking rock opera "O’Dessa." Her acting credits also include memorable roles in the "Best Man," "Think Like a Man," and "Scary Movie" franchises. More recently, she has appeared in "Me Time," "Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul," and "Master," displaying her versatility and range.
Hall made history by winning the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actress for her role in Andrew Bujalski's 2018 film "Support the Girls," becoming the first Black actress to be honored with this accolade. Additionally, her production company, Rh Negative, recently secured a first-look deal with MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios, further solidifying her status in the entertainment industry.
Stoller is renowned for directing films like "Bros," "Neighbors," its sequel, and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." He also co-created the Apple TV+ series "Platonic," starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, which has been renewed for a second season, showcasing his diverse talents behind the camera.
Hall is represented by the Independent Artist Group, continuing to captivate audiences with her talent and charisma.
