Johnson elaborated that while he and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy relished the creative process of brainstorming and nurturing ideas for the prospective three-film arc, the advent of Knives Out dramatically redirected his focus towards the murder mystery blockbuster. He recounted, "Nothing concrete materialized from it. We had an absolute blast collaborating, and they suggested, 'Let's keep this momentum going.'"

"I eagerly replied, 'Awesome!' and continued to bounce ideas off Kathy. In a nutshell, Knives Out came knocking. I jumped at the opportunity to helm it, and before I knew it, I was fully immersed in crafting murder mysteries," Johnson further clarified.

However, the Poker Face actor hinted at a potential change of heart, stating that should an opportunity arise in the future to contribute to Star Wars, whether through revisiting his trilogy or taking on a different project, he would welcome it with open arms. Sharing more insights into his trilogy, Johnson emphasized that it remained "strictly conceptual," with no tangible "outline, treatment, or anything concrete" ever developed for the venture.

Currently, Johnson's latest cinematic offering, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, is available for streaming, inviting viewers to dive into yet another thrilling mystery.
