Richard Gere's festive season is set to take flight in the vibrant landscape of Spain! Having expressed his wish to relocate to this European haven earlier this year, the esteemed actor made an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Wednesday, November 20th, where he disclosed that his family and he would be commemorating Thanksgiving in Madrid, amidst discussions about their impending move.

With a playful grin, the 75-year-old Gere joked, "My wife [Alejandra Silva] is Spanish. Is anyone out there objecting?" He promptly reassured that he would still make trips back to the United States. "But since my wife is Spanish and she's granted me around seven years here, we've decided to spend a few years in Madrid with her family," the "Pretty Woman" legend continued, also discussing his upcoming series, "The Agency." "Our children are bilingual, so they're bound to thrive there," Gere added with a gleam in his eye.

With a chuckle, host Jimmy Fallon, captivated by Gere's self-effacing humor about mastering "15 languages perfectly," curiously asked if he would indeed celebrate Thanksgiving in Madrid. Gere confirmed with a nod, affirming, "Yes, in Spain." He then expanded, painting a vivid picture, "My wife hailed from an expansive Spanish family, reminiscent of a grand Italian clan, where her grandmother stood as the unwavering pillar that bound everyone together. Sadly, she departed from us about two years ago. Nowadays, I watch my wife gradually evolve into the new grandmother of this extensive family. She's already enthusiastically organizing Sunday luncheons for an astonishing gathering of 35 people!"

Gere and Silva's love story began in 2014 at a hotel in the charming Italian town of Positano, and they tied the knot in May 2018. Together, they welcomed two sons, Alexander, 5, and James, 4. Silva, 41, also has an 11-year-old son named Albert from her previous marriage to Govind Friedland, while Gere's only child with his second wife, Carey Lowell, is their son Homer, born in 2000.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gere was a guest on the "Today" show with Savannah Guthrie, where he opened up about this new chapter in his family's life. "My wife is Spanish, and we're relocating there for her family, her friends, and her rich culture. Our kids being bilingual will truly benefit them," he shared warmly.

This move comes on the heels of Gere selling his six-bedroom, 11-bathroom Connecticut home for $11 million in October. According to the local media outlet, the New Canaan Advertiser, Gere had purchased this property in 2022 for $10.8 million and lived there with Silva and their children for two years.

Back in April, during an interview with Vanity Fair Spain, Gere first revealed his plans to relocate to his wife's homeland. "For Alejandra, it will be delightful to be closer to her family, lifelong friends, and her beloved culture," he expressed. "She was incredibly generous to spend six years in my world, so it's only fair that I spend at least another six in hers."
