Rosalía Abruptly Cancels Milan Concert Mid-Show Due to Health Issue

Sometimes, the show must respectfully bow out. As Rosalía valiantly battled through an illness during her performance at Milan’s Unipol Forum, part of her Lux tour, the "La Perla" singer was compelled to abruptly halt the concert mid-set.

"I've tried to give this show my all from the outset, but I've been under the weather," Rosalía candidly shared with the crowd at the March 24 concert, according to a fan video posted on Instagram. "I've had a severe case of food poisoning, and I've been trying to power through until the end. But I'm feeling extremely ill. I'm throwing up right here. I want to give you the best show, and I'm practically on my knees giving it my all."

The 33-year-old artist, clutching her stomach, candidly admitted that she could "try to keep going" through her set but that "at some point, I might have to stop."

"I genuinely want you to have the best experience," she continued. "I've never been in this situation before. I'm really trying to push as much as I can, but I'm in pain. I'm so sorry. I really wanted to be strong up here. Let me see if I can recover in any way."

Despite her indomitable spirit, the "Berghain" star ultimately had to halt the show minutes later, telling the audience, "I love you so much. I hope I can come back in better shape."

Hours later, she proved that she was already on her feet—at least metaphorically. Indeed, Rosalía shared a photo of herself lying in a hospital stretcher on her Instagram Stories, captioning it: "Feeling better. Thank you so much for all the love and understanding from everyone who was there. Grazie Milano."

Rosalía hasn't announced whether she'll reschedule the Milan stop or any of her remaining European shows. She's set to embark on a four-night stint in Madrid on March 30 before traveling to major cities like Lisbon, Barcelona, Berlin, and London. The North and South American leg of her tour kicks off in Miami on June 4, with the final concert set for September 3 in Puerto Rico.

Though these locations are standard stops for a massive tour, the Motomami singer crafted this lineup with intent. After all, Lux—which was released last November—is a stunning love letter to the countries that inspired her new minimalist yet orchestral sound.

"Throughout all these years of traveling and being exposed to other music and cultures, I've experienced different things," Rosalía told NPR shortly after the album's release. "And all of that, I think I carry with me with so much love. I'm like, 'I want this to be part of this album. I exist in the world, and the world exists within me. I feel like hopefully my love is plural and infinite.'"

She added, "My favorite art is where it's a little bit blurry—the personal and the universal."
