Having made his grand entrance in Season 4 of "Emily in Paris," Rupert Everett's return to the City of Love for the subsequent season seems unlikely. This double Golden Globe nominee recently reminisced about the heartbreaking turn of events where he wasn't reinvited to reprise his role as the Italian fashion maven, Giorgio Barbieri, in the Netflix hit, despite his stellar performance in the Season 4 episode titled "All Roads Lead to Rome."

"For me, it was nothing short of tragic. I was confined to bed for two long weeks, unable to come to terms with it," he confided to Vanity Fair. "I had done a scene in the latest season, and they assured me, 'We'll talk next year,'" Everett recounted. "I eagerly awaited their call, but unfortunately, it never came. They simply let me go. The world of show business is fraught with challenges, from start to finish. Initially, when they craft the screenplay, they believe they want you, but circumstances change, and your character gets sidelined. I'm still in the dark about the reasons behind it."

However, a reliable source close to the production clarified to Vanity Fair that Everett was onboard solely as a guest star and his character's arc had reached a fitting conclusion.

Following Netflix's renewal of "Emily in Paris" for Season 5 last September, series creator Darren Star provided Deadline with an update on the upcoming episodes. "I believe we have an absolutely fantastic season lined up," he enthused last month. "We shot in Rome for the first four weeks, and it was an exhilarating experience. Now, we're back in Paris, and Emily is undoubtedly back in Paris."
