Sandra Bullock, at the dawn of her first Mother's Day since her grand debut on Instagram, pays a heartfelt tribute to the mothers who have shaped her life and her own two precious children. The 61-year-old actress, who cherishes her privacy, rarely lets her light shine on her 16-year-old son Louis and 12-year-old daughter Laila in public. But for this special occasion, she delighted her fans with a nostalgic glimpse of her little ones.
Sandra's tribute begins with a photo of her own mother, Helga Mathilde, and her grandmother (whom she affectionately calls "Omi"), along with her sister Gesine. It's a snapshot of love and heritage. Then, she adds a photo of herself with her two children when they were just toddlers, their faces partially obscured by Laila's costume dress and Louis' cape and large black top hat.

In her caption, she writes: "To all the mamas, no matter how you came to be, Happy Mother's Day. We are all bound by this honor of a lifetime. Mom and Omi, thank you for teaching me. We miss you, sorry I was such a brat."
Lily Collins comments: "And thank you for being my first on-screen mama. Forever grateful for you," while Mindy Kaling adds: "Sandy why are you making me cry it's 7:30." Other fans echo their sentiments with messages like: "Happy Mother's Day to you too!! I hope you have the most amazing day with your kids," and "Happy Mama's Day, Mama Bullock," with one even quipping: "Still can't get used to the fact that Sandie got on Instagram lol!"
For a few years in the 2020s, Sandra took a step back from the public eye and acting to devote time to being a present mom to her two kids. That extended into the grieving period for her longtime partner Bryan Randall, who died after a battle with ALS in 2023. But the actress is now back in action and back to work, making her social media debut just last month in connection with the arrival of the "Practical Magic" sequel, which will hit theaters this September.
During an appearance at the CNBC Changemakers Summit recently, Sandra also noted that even with her comeback, her kids remain her priority, which was a key factor while filming "Practical Magic 2" over the summer. "I'm not going to sacrifice my time with my kids," she said during a panel. "They'd be happy if I was gone, I would not." She continued: "I do not do my best work if my children are struggling or if they need something and I can't facilitate it. I'm raising my children, not anybody else."
"But I have the luxury of doing that in this business. So many people don't. And I understand that grief and that angst when you are at work, going, 'I'm not where I need to be right now. I'm here being performative and doing my job.' But guess what? Women can do it. We can do 15 things at one time and get it done."
