Sarah Michelle Gellar unveiled that she was acquainted with several familiar faces listed on the audition roster for the forthcoming reboot of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." The actress, who portrayed the iconic Buffy Summers across seven seasons from 1997 to 2003, recently engaged in a chat with Us Weekly alongside her former "Buffy" co-star Alyson Hannigan, who brought Willow Rosenberg to life. During their heartfelt conversation, Hannigan confessed, "I know someone who tried out for a part in the reboot."
However, Gellar too had her own connections. She revealed, "I know someone who was part of our original series and whose child also auditioned for a role in the reboot. In fact, I know quite a few individuals from our show whose offspring participated." Hannigan responded with a playful quip, "I hope it wasn't one of mine!"
While the "Wolf Pack" star refrained from disclosing the identities of those who auditioned, it was recently announced that Ryan Kiera Armstrong, known for her role in "Star Wars: Skeleton Crew," has secured a leading part in Hulu's pilot for the reboot. Gellar will once again don the role of Buffy Summers in this new iteration.
Commenting on Armstrong's casting, Gellar said, "From the very instant I witnessed Ryan's audition, I knew she was the only girl I wanted by my side. To possess such emotional intelligence and talent at such a tender age is a genuine blessing. An added charm is her smile, which can illuminate even the darkest corners."
Most details pertaining to Armstrong's character, as well as the reboot itself, remain shrouded in secrecy. The original series, which also featured Nicholas Brendon, Anthony Head, James Marsters, and Emma Caulfield Ford, followed Buffy Summers, destined to vanquish vampires, demons, and other malevolent beings, as she navigated her life filled with battles against evil, supported by her loyal friends.
As of yet, a premiere date for the reboot has yet to be unveiled, leaving fans eagerly anticipating its arrival.
