Published: May 08 2026

The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has now stretched into its fourth month, and a gripping documentary has even hit the small screen, titled "NewsNation Presents: The Nancy Guthrie Mystery." This captivating piece features senior correspondent Brian Entin and also includes comments from forensic nurse Dr. Ann Burgess, who weighs in on a pivotal question involved in the kidnapping plot—whether the person seen in the Ring doorbell video camera is alive at this point in time, given their belief that the subject may have been killed after the footage broke.

The conversation begins with the commentator asking, "So, the person we see at the front door could be dead… killed by someone else… killed by the boss." To this, Dr. Burgess explains, "Right? By the boss. Right. It was well-planned. They got away with it. And they form a type of case that we’ve never seen before, as far as we know."

A criminal psychologist named Dr. Gary Brucato also chimes in and says, "If he is caught, if he’s alive and is caught, he will lead down the spider web to the center." He adds, "That amateur hour kind of quality is interesting too, and suggests to me a difference in intelligences. Some schemer behind the scenes, and this character who is the sort of hired or asked to do this." He continues, "I don’t believe this person worked alone… I think there is a little group of people."

As for whether Nancy could have known her kidnappers, Criminologist Dr. Casey Jordan answers this question in a conversation with Entin. "This person knew her. I don’t think she knew this person… it could have been somebody who saw her on the Today Show with her daughter, Savannah," they said in response.
