Scarlett Johansson wasn't exactly thrilled when her husband, Colin Jost, revealed his latest "dumb purchase" - a disassembled John F. Kennedy Staten Island Ferry that he had invested in alongside a group of investors for $280,100. In a recent teaser for the upcoming May 4 episode of the SmartLess podcast, Colin shared his excitement by texting Scarlett, "Guess what? We own a ferry now!" However, Scarlett's response was not as enthusiastic as he had hoped, as Colin recalled her saying, "We?"
The idea for purchasing the ferry came after Colin's friend Pete Davidson texted him about the ferry being up for auction. Pete, a fellow Staten Islander and former SNL cast member, encouraged Colin to buy it, saying, "F*** yeah, we've got to do this!" Colin admits that he was "the wrong person to text with when you have an idea like this," but he couldn't resist following Pete's lead.
Despite calling it a "sort of crazy money pit," Colin is now envisioning turning the ferry into a swim club with an entertainment space and even taking an annual winter trip to Miami. He jokes that if the renovations and the impulse buy work out, it will be "fine!" He even teases, "Is this a good financial sign where you're like, ‘It's fine!?’”
It's worth mentioning that Scarlett and Colin tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their son, Cosmo, in August 2021. Whether this impulsive purchase was a wise one or not, one thing is for sure - they're making some interesting memories together!
