Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost's love story kicked off with a peculiar twist. The 41-year-old director-actress revealed why her Saturday Night Live star husband, 43, didn't think they were destined for each other after their initial date. "My first date with Colin was an unusual one, to say the least," Johansson shared on the Monday, December 1st episode of Today with Jenna & Friends, which she co-hosted. "I've never really been asked out before, let me tell you. People say it, but it's true. I was a serial monogamist who never experienced the traditional 'Hey, would you like to have dinner sometime?'"

Johansson recounted that Jost had asked her out for a date back in 2017, and while it started off well enough, it took an unexpected turn. "We went to an Italian restaurant in the East Village. It was a charming date," Johansson said. "We had dinner at 8 p.m. or so, and then afterwards, he suggested, 'I'm meeting friends, let's go grab a drink.' And being inexperienced with dating, I was like, 'I have to go now. I need to leave.'"
The decision left even Johansson's babysitter bewildered when she returned home early. "I got home to relieve my babysitter and it was 9:36, and she was like, 'Why are you home?!' " Johansson recalled. "I was like, 'I went on this date, and...' I just felt so flustered."
The Jurassic World Rebirth star said her future husband thought her behavior meant there was no future for them. "Later on he was like, 'I totally thought that was it. You were acting so weird,' " Johansson said. "I panicked. I don't know."
Jost and Johansson first met in 2006 before dating when she hosted SNL, but they didn't start dating until 2017. Johansson was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011 and journalist Romain Dauriac from 2014 to 2017. Johansson is the mother of daughter Rose, 11, whom she shares with Dauriac, and son Cosmo, 4, with Jost. The couple tied the knot in 2020 in an intimate ceremony.
Johansson served as a host on SNL back in May, marking the end of the show's milestone 50th season. Jost surprised his wife on stage with a large bouquet of roses and a kiss, making the occasion even more memorable.
