Sean 'Diddy' Combs' prison release date brought forward

Published: Mar 03 2026

Sean "Diddy" Combs will be released from prison a month and a half ahead of schedule, according to a report by Page Six. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has announced that Combs' prison release date has been moved up from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028. This development comes after Combs was accepted into a drug-abuse rehabilitation program in November, which may have contributed to the shortened sentence.

The fallen music icon, who has been serving his time at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institute in New Jersey, initially saw his sentence extended from May 8, 2028, to June 2, 2028, last November, after allegedly violating multiple prison rules. However, the latest release date follows Combs' December filing to appeal his four-year sentence. Lawyers have demanded his immediate release and either a reversal of the conviction or a reduced sentence, as stated in the appeal court papers. Prosecutors responded in February, opposing the appeal request.

Combs has been behind bars since his September 2024 arrest, charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. He was found guilty after a two-month trial on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and was acquitted of the other charges.
