Sean Ono Lennon is gently reminding his fans of the unwavering bond of love he shares with his brother, Julian Lennon. On Monday, April 21st, the 49-year-old reposted a heartfelt message to his Instagram Stories, urging his followers to respect the profound relationship he and Julian, the only sons of the late Beatles legend John Lennon, cherish.
The message, initially circulated by the fan account "ceoofjohnlennon," stated, "Here, we拒绝 comparisons and fabricated conflicts between two individuals whom John Lennon loved most dearly: his children :)." It was accompanied by a nostalgic photograph of Sean and Julian, now 62, from the 1986 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where they honored Elvis Presley.
Julian, born to John and his first wife Cynthia, while Sean's mother is Yoko Ono, John's second wife and fellow musical icon, both embody their father's artistic legacy. The brothers, accomplished musicians in their own right, enjoy a close bond and frequently share heartwarming tributes to each other on social media.
Last December, Julian posted a series of snapshots capturing a rare evening together at The Dakota, the historic New York City apartment building where John once resided with Sean and Yoko. John was tragically assassinated outside The Dakota in 1980, when he was just 40 years old. Julian captioned the post, "A Goodnight kiss for my brother, after spending the evening with him, enjoying dinner and chatting till dawn at The Dakota. Something we rarely get to do…Thankful."
In an interview with PEOPLE in 2022, Julian revealed that Sean is his "best mate" and they stay in constant communication, discussing everything from music and cuisine to fitness and photography. "We’re brothers and we love each other deeply. We talk daily, just like anyone else would," he shared.
In June 2024, Julian posted another poignant photo of himself with Sean on Instagram, expressing his longing for more quality time together. "Missing My Brother Sean… More time together, please! (Problem is, we both work so hard and live on opposite sides of the Atlantic)," he wrote.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Sean opened up to reporters about the impact of being the son of two renowned figures on his musical journey. "Balancing my role as custodian of my dad's music with my own creative pursuits is not a burden but a great privilege," he said. "I feel incredibly fortunate to honor my dad through my music."
