Who says biscuits and gravy can't steal the spotlight as the ultimate wedding dessert? In a captivating interview snippet shared by her brand, Rare Beauty, on July 25th, Selena Gomez subtly unveiled details about her upcoming nuptials with fiancé Benny Blanco. As they ponder over the menu for their big day – "whenever that enchanting moment arrives" – the 33-year-old singer revealed, "I'm certain I don't want an elaborate cake."

Instead, Gomez envisions a cozy, exclusive dessert meant solely for her and her 37-year-old music producer and cookbook author beau. "I fancy a tiny one, just for us, which we can freeze and cherish," she said with a smile. Shifting away from conventional sweets, Gomez's heart desires something savory yet sentimental: "My Nana's biscuits and gravy," she declared. "That, to me, sounds like a dream dessert."

Despite Gomez's recent culinary revelation, the lovebirds – who got engaged in December 2024 – haven't yet embarked on their wedding planning journey, as Blanco previously disclosed. During the July 10th episode of the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, the music producer explained that they've been putting off wedding plans because they both "need a break" after being buried in work. "We were engrossed in album music videos, then holidays rolled around, followed by promotional duties. After that, she jetted off to film her show Only Murders in the Building, and when we reunited, it was straight back to promo. Meanwhile, I was writing another book," he elaborated. "We've been so preoccupied that we haven't even had the chance to dive into it. But the excitement is real."

In the same Therapuss episode, Blanco teased that they might "sit down this summer and figure things out," adding that their wedding would likely be "laid-back." Sharing a glimpse into their relationship, he revealed that although he's not a fan of lounging in bed, "with Selena, I can do it all day long." The singer, he continued, "makes me crave cozy moments, movie marathons, indulgent feasts, and simply having the best time ever."

The duo has been open about how food weaves a special thread through their bond, with Blanco previously telling PEOPLE that he goes "all out" for dates with Gomez. Recalling Valentine's Day, he said, "I fetched her Taco Bell, crafted movie-theater nachos, sourced her favorite Texas pickles, deep-fried them for her, and rounded it off with her favorite candies and Hot Cheetos." (The following year, he pampered her with a bathtub filled with cheese dip, complete with chips for dipping.)

Similarly, Blanco advises aspiring romantics to master the art of cooking for their partners, regardless of their culinary skills. "Even if you're terrible at it, they'll cherish it because you made the effort," the cookbook author emphasized. "Ask them what they crave and learn to cook it, even if it's not your forte."
