Selena Gomez is urging her fans to take a deep breath and relax. The "Kill 'Em With Kindness" singer shared a heartfelt message on Instagram Stories on October 17th, seemingly addressing recent comments made by Hailey Bieber, whose Rhode Beauty line is now sold alongside Selena's Rare Beauty products in Sephora stores. "Just leave the girl alone," Selena wrote, before swiftly deleting the post. "She can say whatever she wants. It doesn't affect my life in any way. It's about relevance, not intelligence."
Instead, the 33-year-old, who married music producer Benny Blanco in September, pleaded with her followers to "be kind." "All brands inspire me," she continued. "There is room for everyone. And hopefully we can all stop this unnecessary drama."
Days earlier, Hailey, who tied the knot with Only Murders In the Building star Justin Bieber's ex-boyfriend in 2018, spoke about her brand's expansion, noting that she's not interested in competing with other offerings on the shelves. "It's always annoying being pitted against other people," the 28-year-old said in an interview with WSJ. Magazine published on October 14th. "I didn't ask for that. When people want to see you a certain way and they've made up a story about you in their minds, it's not up to you to change that."
Indeed, Hailey insisted that she's only focused on one competitor: herself. "I think there is space for everybody," the model shared. "I don't feel competitive with people that I'm not inspired by."
While rumors of a feud between Hailey and Selena have swirled for years, both entrepreneurs have repeatedly denied harboring any ill will towards each other. For instance, Selena spoke out in March after learning that Hailey was facing criticism online. "Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity," Selena wrote in an Instagram Stories post at the time. "This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying." "I've always advocated for kindness," she added, "and really want this all to stop."
