Selena Gomez has courageously spoken about her mental health journey since being diagnosed with bipolar disorder. During a recent episode of her husband, Benny Blanco's 'Friends Keep Secrets' podcast, the 'Calm Down' hitmaker shared intimate details about her path to diagnosis. When Benny asked Selena if she had known she was bipolar before her official diagnosis, she responded, "I knew something was off, but I think I was misdiagnosed." She further elaborated, "It's incredibly challenging when discussing these matters, and for me to suggest seeking a therapist. It's all so... intricate."

For those who may not be aware, Selena announced her diagnosis in 2020. The 33-year-old singer said, "I'm proud to say that I do have moments of mania. I'm not ashamed at all because I can now catch them a bit quicker." It is immensely helpful to have a partner who understands and meets you where you are," added the 'Only Murders in the Building' star. Selena also stated that she now lives life more "freely."

"The hypocrisy of shaming people for therapy or those who don't understand it is that it's just not for everyone," said Selena. "But for me, it finally allowed me to understand, 'Oh, that's why I handled things the way I did. That's why all the other people were able to get over things quickly, and I wasn't.' I acted out of fear, love, and passion. It was all inconsistent. It was crazy," she added.
