The union of Mercedes "MJ" Javid and Tommy Feight has officially come to an end. According to documents obtained by TMZ, the star of Shahs of Sunset has filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, citing irreconcilable differences as the catalyst for their separation. MJ has declared October 17 as the date of their separation and is seeking to block the court's ability to award spousal support to either her or Tommy. Additionally, the 53-year-old is requesting sole legal and physical custody of their six-year-old son, Shams. A divorce hearing has been scheduled for December 18.
While MJ has yet to publicly address the filing, the news of her divorce follows almost a month after she shared a cryptic message about change on Instagram. In a September 30 video, MJ panned a camera around her home with the caption, "Prioritize your dreams, manifest your goals, change is beautiful, growth is necessary."
Tommy's last appearance on MJ's social media was in August, when she promoted an episode of their joint podcast, Till The Dirt. The couple's romance and 2018 wedding were documented on Shahs of Sunset, along with Tommy's tumultuous relationship with MJ's lifelong best friend, Reza Farahan, including the aftermath of the 2019 restraining order Reza filed against him. However, in 2022, the trio seemed to have patched things up as MJ shared that Reza had the opportunity to meet their son.
"Tommy let Shams meet Reza," MJ said during a BravoCon panel on October 15. "And it's amazing because Reza loves to give Shams lots of sweets and gummy bears...I love it, the bond is something that's unbreakable." She added, "The last time that Reza and Tommy saw each other, they actually laughed at a joke together. The shortest distance between two people is laughter. I was really grateful for that."
