Hulu is steaming ahead with an eagerly anticipated limited series headlined by Lindsay Lohan, with the addition of Shailene Woodley set to co-star in a mesmerizing ensemble. The streaming giant has acquired "Count My Lies," a compelling adaptation of Sophie Stava's novel, helmed by former "This Is Us" showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Since its inception in April, the series has seen Lohan attached from the onset, with Woodley joining the fold as a fresh face. Both actresses will not only grace our screens but also serve as executive producers.
This announcement follows the triumphant return of Lohan in "Freaky Friday," where she reprised her iconic role from the 2003 film, marking a strong debut weekend at the box office. Meanwhile, Woodley expands her Hulu portfolio with this addition, following her stint in season two of "Paradise."
The gripping synopsis for "Count My Lies" unfolds thus: "When Sloane Caraway (Woodley), a compulsive liar, cleverly weaves her way into a nanny position for the alluring and magnetic Violet (Lohan) and Jay Lockhart, it seems she has finally nailed her dream job. Little does Sloane realize, she has stepped into a household teeming with secrets ready to implode, threatening catastrophic repercussions for all involved."
Earlier this year, Stava's debut novel was honored as a "Good Morning America" Book Club selection. Published by Scout Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, it has garnered widespread acclaim. Disney's 20th Television, where Aptaker and Berger maintain an overall deal, is spearheading the production of "Count My Lies." The duo is adapting the novel and executive producing under their Walk-Up Company banner. Lohan, Woodley, and Walk-Up Company are also executive producers, while Stava takes on the role of producer.
