Shawn Mendes is unstoppable in his new romance. Indeed, the "Stitches" singer was all smiles as he and Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine wrapped their arms around each other while shopping at a Los Angeles grocery store on Jan. 7. In photos from the outing, the pair kept it casual, each wearing jeans and sweaters as they leaned into each other, sharing multiple hugs. In one pic, Shawn, 27, embraced Bruna, 30, from the front while leaning into her neck with his eyes closed, while in another he wrapped his arms around her from behind.
The "Mercy" singer and "Blue Beetle" actress first sparked romance rumors last month when they were spotted vacationing together in Brazil, marking his first public romance since rumors of him dating "Big Brother UK" alum Charlie Travers in 2023.

Ever since Shawn's two-year relationship with Camila Cabello ended in 2021—with a brief reconciliation in 2023—the Grammy nominee has kept his romantic life mostly private. However, he did address the ongoing speculation about his sexuality in November 2024 during a performance of his song "The Mountain," which tackles the same topic.
"The truth is that I didn't get to do a lot of 15-year-old things and discover parts of myself that you do at 15," he said during a concert at the time. "There's this thing about my sexuality, and people have been talking about it so long. I think it's kind of silly, because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it's so hard to just put into boxes."
Shawn admitted that, amid what he said felt like an "intrusion" on a topic "very personal" to him, he was finally ready to speak "freely."
"The real truth about my life and my sexuality is that, man, I'm just figuring it out like everyone," he continued. "And I don't really know sometimes and I know other times. And it feels really scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about that."
Shawn concluded, "I'm trying to be really brave and just allow myself to be a human and feel things. And that's all I really want to say about that for now."
