Shia LaBeouf is candidly discussing his marriage with Mia Goth amidst reports that they privately split last year. The actor from "Holes" shared insight into the reasons behind their decision to part ways, stating, "You have to deal with it, and God puts it on your heart for a reason." He continued, "I feel like it's not a new heartbreak. I don't want to talk too much about it. It's not just my story to tell, but my side is that I failed my marriage, and I had to own up to that."

For Shia, owning up to this led him to New Orleans. "That's why I had to move out here," he said. "I moved out here and started trying to rebuild, was having a good time, and then hit a roadblock right there." The "Transformers" star, who shares a 3-year-old daughter Isabel with Mia, was referring to a Feb. 17 incident at a Mardi Gras celebration where he was arrested on battery charges.
The New Orleans Police Department confirmed that the Disney alum was taken into custody just after 12 a.m. local time after two victims were "reportedly assaulted." Shia, who has been open about his battle with addiction, also shared that he was "drunk" during the brawl, noting how he ended his sobriety nine months prior. Detailing the ups and downs of his sobriety journey, he admitted his longest stretch was "probably two years."
"I was probably sober for a year before the birth of my daughter and another year after my daughter's birth," he explained. "Then life became life." He added, "I know there are people who depend on me and look to me for sobriety, stability, and like a pillar of this stuff. I'm just a man."
While Mia, 32, and Shia, who have been in an on-off relationship since 2012, have kept their relationship highs and lows private, they've been open about their love for their little girl. "She is the most dynamic spark of life and most magical. It's a game-changer," Shia said of their baby on the "Real Ones with Jon Bernthal" podcast in 2022. "Me and my girl had been in love for a long time, but I didn't really know it. I didn't really know what love was until all this stuff hit the fan and she was still around."
Mia has also been transformed by parenthood. "It's a really psychedelic experience to have a child," she told Elle in an interview published in October. "You're parenting her, but you're also parenting the version of you that existed when you were that age." She continued, "The amount of love that you can feel, she's the greatest gift of my life."
