Sia is proving that she's unstoppable, regardless of her hairstyle. The "Chandelier" singer, known for her iconic bangs that gracefully fall just above her mouth, stepped out on November 8th, revealing her face to the public for the first time in a while. The 49-year-old was snapped leaving Kris Jenner's 70th birthday bash in Beverly Hills, hosted at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos' mansion, and attended by several other stars including Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, and Adele, as well as Kris' kids Kourtney Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Rob Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner.
For the occasion, Sia (real name Sia Kate Isobelle Furler) wore a long black Prada windbreaker-style jacket paired with black sunglasses and a black baseball cap. Her hair was styled in a long blonde braid pulled to the side, complemented with black and gold earrings. The Australian singer smiled widely, with her face other than her eyes visible for all to see.
While Sia has been showing her face more frequently over the last several years—even debuting her face lift results in 2023—she kept her bangs covering her face for just about every performance, interview, and photo during her breakthrough as a solo artist in the 2010s. And for her, it was always about keeping her identity private. "I don't wear this if there aren't cameras around," she explained to James Corden in 2016. "I only wear this to maintain a modicum of privacy."
That's because it was never her intention to rise to stardom. When she began becoming more widely known, she was focusing on her pop songwriting career. So, when it seemed fame was coming her way, the wig was put on to try and remain as anonymous as possible. As she put it to Billboard in a 2013 op-ed, "If anyone besides famous people knew what it was like to be a famous person, they would never want to be famous."
However, the "Elastic Heart" singer has found a "safe" space in the Kardashian crew. Sia's bond with the sisters began back in 2018, when she met Kim—and through her, Khloe and Kourtney—while working with Jennifer Lopez on the song "Limitless" that she was helping to promote at the time. "I would be with them on Sundays, and a group of their friends, and afterward, sometimes we would go to Kourtney's house and swim and hang out and I just felt really safe," Sia shared on Karson & Kennedy Talk with Famous People in 2020. "Also, Kim was really protective. She's really protective. If she thought anyone in the group was gonna try to ask me for a selfie or was gonna try to FaceTime their children with me, she was extremely protective." "I love those girls," she added. "When I met them, I felt safe."
