Sia is tenderly mending her resilient heart, a metaphorical elastic that stretches and recovers. The "Chandelier" singer spoke candidly after agreeing to pay a monthly child support of $42,500 to her ex-husband, Daniel Bernad, with whom she shares a 23-month-old son, Somersault Wonder Bernard, as part of their divorce proceedings. "I'm a focused working mom, striving for tranquility amidst the chaos," Sia penned on X (formerly Twitter) on April 7th, adding that California's child support regulations are "exorbitantly high."

She continued, "This year has been a grueling test, but it's taught me how to navigate treacherous waters, prioritize my family, and shield myself from the negativity of others."

In addition to the child support, Sia is also accountable for covering her son's private school tuition, health insurance, and extracurricular activities, as per court documents obtained by E! News. The 50-year-old mother of two older sons has also agreed to purchase a $5 million life insurance policy, naming Somersault as the beneficiary in case she passes away before he reaches adulthood.

According to the court documents, the former couple—who wed in 2022—will share legal custody of their son while adhering to a specific parenting schedule for physical custody. Holidays will be divided, with Sia gaining custody of Somersault on Mother's Day, Easter, and Christmas. Meanwhile, Daniel will spend Father's Day, Halloween, Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and parts of Hanukkah with Somersault.

The agreement also stipulates that neither Sia nor Daniel will "defame the other in the presence or within the hearing range" of their child. Sia initially filed for divorce from Daniel in March 2025, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the breakup. In her initial filing, the "Unstoppable" hitmaker requested legal and physical custody of Somersault, with Daniel receiving visitation rights.

Daniel, a former radiation oncologist, later counter-requested $250,856 per month in temporary spousal support to maintain the "lavish and upper-class lifestyle" he had grown accustomed to during the marriage, per a filing viewed by E!. He also accused Sia of drug abuse and being a "serious and immediate danger" to their son, an allegation she vehemently denied.

"It is true that I struggled with drug and alcohol issues more than fifteen years ago," Sia responded in an October 2025 filing. "I have been fully sober for over six months and am actively working on my recovery program, which includes weekly testing and a sober companion."
