Simone Biles is flipping out over the steep price tag of her recent red carpet event. Indeed, the Olympic gymnast struggled to comprehend how expensive it was for her to attend a recent outing, revealing that a stylist, hair, and makeup team cost her a whopping $23,000. "I just need to know if this is normal," Simone said in an April 27 TikTok. "I know going outside is expensive as f**k these days, but is it this expensive?"
Though Simone did not disclose which event led her to spend the hefty amount, she admitted that she's been "spiraling since then" as she called on her fellow celebs to provide clarity. "I just want to know if that f**king normal?" the 29-year-old asked. "I get inflation, like I get prices have gone up these days. But if that's the new norm, y'all can have it. Y'all will never see me at another event. I'm going to sit my ass right here where it's free."
The seven-time gold medalist, whose last red carpet appearance was at the 2026 Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, Spain, on April 20, also emphasized why she was making the video, noting that she was simply looking for answers from public figures who were in her shoes. "My intention for this video isn't so that you guys can go bash people," she clarified. "There's no ill intent. I just need to know if this is normal. That's really it, 'cause if it is, I'm staying inside."
Simone also reiterated her points in the caption of her post, writing, "I will be staying inside for the foreseeable future. In another note, also kinda wack when they double or triple the price because of your name. This didn't happen this time but it has before." "My intention isn't to bash anyone," she concluded. "Everyone I work with/have worked with is LOVELY! I'm just curious if this is normal."
And Simone wasn't alone in her concerns. In fact, alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin also related to her fellow Olympian, commenting, "Girl, I've been wondering the same." But being candid with her followers is nothing out of the ordinary for Simone. After all, it was just a few months ago that she revealed she underwent three plastic surgeries, including a lower blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), a breast augmentation, and a reshaping of her ear lobe.
"It's just who I am and I feel like I've always tried to be open, honest, and relatable," she explained to People in November. "Seeing me win medals at the Olympics isn't relatable. But what is relatable is how we feel about ourselves, what we talk about, what we go through and how we share openly and honestly. And so that's why I decided to share it."
Transparency was also a top priority for Simone because so many young women look up to her. "I feel like nowadays with social media, you see everyone and you're like, 'Oh my God, how does she look so good?'" she emphasized. "Social media is not real, so that's why I try to be as transparent as possible." The star athlete added, "As long as you love yourself, that's really all that matters."
