Simu Liu revealed to the audience at New York Comic Con that fans can expect to see Shang-Chi return soon, as Marvel continues to develop its upcoming Avengers films. The actor confirmed that a sequel to the hit film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is in the works despite limited details being available. "It is happening," Liu said, adding that despite the lack of information he could share, the project remains a priority for Marvel following the success of the 2021 film, which grossed over $432 million worldwide.

In the immediate future, Liu hinted at his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in December 2026, and its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, set for December 2027. He confirmed that he will appear in both films but declined to reveal any specifics about Shang-Chi's role.
Reflecting on his experience working with the large ensemble cast of Doomsday, Liu praised his connection with Channing Tatum, calling him one of his favorite people and commending their time together both on and off set. The upcoming Avengers film brings together an impressive lineup of actors, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Pedro Pascal, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart. For Liu, collaborating with actors he grew up watching was a highlight of the experience and compared it to a childhood dream.
Avengers: Doomsday will be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo as part of Marvel's Phase 6, with Secret Wars arriving one year later.
