Sophia Bush might just be in need of a fresh slogan. The former "One Tree Hill" star uncovered an intriguing tale: she had been invited to join the ranks of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," but comedically blew her chance due to an overlooked text from her buddy Bozoma Saint John, who embarked on her Bravo journey in 2024.
"Wouldn't Sophia make an excellent housewife?" Bozoma quipped during their chat at the Create & Cultivate festival in Los Angeles, attended by E! News on July 19. "It’s a no-brainer. In April, I sent her a text—spilling the beans here—saying, 'Hey, gotta ask you something controversial.'"
According to Bozoma, Sophia "already knew what was coming" but "didn't reply until yesterday, when she exclaimed, 'How did I miss this April text?'" Sophia's response to this bombshell invitation? She burst into laughter.
"First things first, I'm terrible at texting," she joked on stage. "I was all set to text her, 'Oh my god, I'm thrilled to see you tomorrow. Can't wait!' Then I saw, 'Controversial question? April?' And I was like, 'Wow, we really chat more in groups!'"
The "John Tucker Must Die" actress eventually inquired, "What’s this controversial question, girl? I love a good controversy!" Bozoma then spilled the beans, "I was trying to get you on the show."
Bozoma still believes Sophia, who has been dating Ashlyn Harris since her divorce from Grant Hughes in 2023, would be a stellar addition to the cast. "We need more women who are confident, cherish their female friendships, comprehend conflict and drama—not to create a spectacle, but because that's life, and they aren't afraid to discuss the tough stuff," shared the former Netflix executive.
Sophia's initial bewilderment at Bozoma's interest in joining the Bravoverse stemmed from the show's drama focus, which she deemed a "surprising move."
"No offense intended," Sophia confessed during the panel, taped for her "Work in Progress" podcast. "I genuinely thought, 'Isn't that the show where women yell at each other?' Boz isn't a yeller. She’s a cheerleader, a teammate. I didn't get it. So, I tuned in to watch her, and I realized, 'She's transforming the entire industry's vibe.'"
While Sophia doesn't seem inclined to accept Bozoma's offer to join "RHOBH," she acknowledges that her decade-long friend is "setting a healthier example" as a reality TV star.
"Isn't that what we all strive for daily, to enjoy the passing time?" she shared. "I just want to love my life."
