Stellan Skarsgård, fresh from his acclaimed performance and an Oscar nomination for "Sentimental Value" during the recent awards season, has embarked on his first project since then. The actor is set to star alongside Dakota Fanning in a thrilling new original series for Apple TV, created by Alex Cary, who previously brought us the mini-series "A Spy Among Friends" and earned a reputation for crafting thrilling narratives as a writer-producer on "Homeland."

According to Apple, Fanning will play the lead role as an undercover Treasury agent within a multi-billion-dollar international conglomerate, which has far-reaching political and criminal tentacles that could change the world. She becomes torn between her mission and her belief that her primary target, the heir to this corrupt power, is at heart a good man and deserving of her love. Skarsgård joins the cast as the head of this very same international conglomerate. Kari Skogland, known for her work on "The Falcon and Winter Soldier" and "The Handmaid's Tale," will direct and serve as an executive producer.
Cary, who is acting as creator and showrunner under his overall deal with Sony Pictures Television and his FLW Productions banner, is also executive producing. Other executive producers include Elle Fanning, Julie Gardner (known for "Lady in the Lake" and "Doctor Who") for Bad Wolf America, and Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures ("Margo's Got Money Troubles"). Sony Pictures Television is behind the series.
This casting keeps Skarsgård in the Fanning family, in a playful way. In "Sentimental Value," the Swedish actor plays an aging director who hires an American movie star to make a Netflix movie while attempting to reunite with his estranged daughters. The American movie star is played by Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning's own sister.
The Norwegian drama, which took home the Grand Prix at last year's Cannes Film Festival, won Skarsgård the Golden Globe for best supporting actor and earned him an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. Skarsgård, who also starred in the acclaimed Star Wars series "Andor" last year, is represented by CAA and Curtis Brown Group.
In this new project, Skarsgård's character adds another layer of complexity to the already intriguing storyline, promising to keep audiences on the edge of their seats with his mesmerizing performance.
