The British sci-fi comedy feature "Time Travel Is Dangerous" is about to storm the silver screens. Level 33 Entertainment has acquired the distribution rights in the U.S. and Canada for this mockumentary film by director Chris Reading, set to be released in select theaters and via VOD on November 21st, as exclusively revealed by The Hollywood Reporter. The film stars real-life best friends and vintage shop owners Ruth Syratt and Megan Stevenson, with Stephen Fry lending his voice as the narrator.
Rounding out the comedy's cast are Johnny Vegas (Benidorm), Sophie Thompson (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Mark Heap (Spaced), Jane Horrocks (Little Voice), and Tom Lenk (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). "Time Travel Is Dangerous" revolves around Ruth and Megan, who stumble upon a time machine and realize that it will be their ticket to acquiring items from the past for their vintage shop.

Reading directed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Anna-Elizabeth Shakespeare and Hillary Shakespeare, all three serving as producers. The film premiered at the 2024 Austin Film Festival and had a theatrical run earlier this year in the U.K.
In a statement, the film's creative team expresses their excitement to bring their unique British sense of humor to a wider American audience. "We've been to numerous U.S. festivals where we've found audiences laughing the hardest," they say. "We think it particularly appeals to fans of British comedy and sci-fi, reminiscent of This Is Spinal Tap, The Office, Doctor Who, and Terry Gilliam."
Level 33 president and CEO Andreas Olavarria adds, "We can't wait for audiences everywhere to see this charming and funny film from a wonderfully talented filmmaking team."
