In an Allure interview in December 2025, Sweeney had already set the record straight, stating, "I have never gotten work done. I am so scared of needles, you have no idea." When discussing the same topic with Seyfried, Sweeney added, "Everybody on social media's insane," as she addressed the constant comparisons made between childhood and adult images of herself.

She continued, her tone laced with humor and frustration, "You cannot compare a photo of me from when I was 12 to a photo of me at 26 with professional makeup and lighting! Of course I’m going to look different." Seyfried, in her own way, acknowledged the effectiveness of cosmetic procedures but teased Sweeney, saying, "I’ll call you, and I’ll give you a little bit of Ativan, and you’ll be so excited. But you don’t need it yet."

Sweeney also addressed a peculiar feature of her face that some might have mistakenly attributed to surgery. "If I did [have work done], you guys, my face would be even," she declared. When Seyfried inquired about the meaning behind "even," Sweeney explained that one of her eyelids opens slightly more than the other. She revealed that this was the result of a childhood wakeboarding accident that required 19 stitches.

In a separate Variety interview published on October 27, 2025, Sweeney reiterated her stance on cosmetic procedures. "I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully," she declared. She also shared a distressing experience from her early days when she was told at age 16 to get Botox to succeed in the industry, saying, "I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I’m not going to make it."

Sweeney emphasized that she has not had any cosmetic procedures and that the changes in her appearance are due to natural aging, professional lighting, and makeup. Her words resonated with her audience, painting a picture of a determined and authentic individual who refuses to succumb to societal pressures to conform.
