During a recent chat with Empire magazine, the actress, who is currently busy filming episodes for the series, opened up about her deep affection for her character and dropped hints about what fans can eagerly expect from HBO's highly anticipated third season.
"Cassie holds a very special place in my heart," Sweeney revealed, her voice laced with genuine emotion. "She's chaotic, she makes countless mistakes, flawed in so many ways, yet she does it all out of love—albeit a melancholic kind of love. Playing a character as wild as she is sheer bliss. Collaborating with Sam [Levinson], a genius filmmaker, is an incredible experience. I'll read a scene, call him up, and suggest, 'Let's push the envelope even further!' And he'll reply with enthusiasm, 'I'm all in!' This season is going to be completely off the rails!"
When asked if this season indeed elevates the madness to a new level, Sweeney chuckled and confidently responded, "Yes."
Season two of the show premiered in early 2022, leaving audiences on tenterhooks, eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the lives of its colorful characters. Notably, the delay was due to various factors, including strikes and creative differences between the creator, Sam Levinson, and the leading lady, Zendaya.
Season three will leap five years into the future, bidding farewell to the high school years of the characters.
