Taylor Swift has received an impromptu invitation from the Backstreet Boys, following the viral explosion of a fusion between her song "Elizabeth Taylor" and the band's iconic "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." The remix by Lydia Getachew skyrocketed to fame once again after AJ McLean shared it on his Instagram, igniting a passion among fans of both artists.
During an exclusive interview with TMZ, McLean, exuding excitement, revealed that following their headline-making "Into the Millennium" residency in July, the Backstreet Boys have added seven more shows at Sphere Las Vegas for December and January 2026. When asked who he'd like to see perform there, he mentioned Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers—before adding, with a hint of mischief, "I don't know if she'd ever do it, but I think Taylor [Swift] would absolutely destroy it."
"She's a fan, and we're a massive fan of hers," he continued, his eyes twinkling with admiration. "I mean, she's the sweetest. She's been so kind to my daughters whenever we've had the chance to hang out and meet her at her shows. She's just the best."
With the viral mashup still climbing towards a million TikTok views, McLean declared that if Swift joined them onstage, "it would break the planet." Looking directly into the camera, he added, with a wink, "Taylor, if you want, come see the show first, so you know what's going on. And then you can figure out if you want to come up with us. We're not going to say no."
In October, McLean fueled collaboration rumors by posting a video of himself dancing to the remix with the caption, "Come on now you know one of us had to! @taylorswift!" Swift's response of "OH HI AJ OH MY GOD," which has since garnered over 185,000 likes, set the stage for Getachew's joyous celebration as well, writing, "OMG you using my mix JUST MADE MY WEEKEND thank you for the love!"
