Teddi Mellencamp shares security footage of attempted burglary at her LA home: 'We are shaken'

On Tuesday, Teddi Mellencamp, a 44-year-old former reality TV star, disclosed chilling footage of an attempted burglary that unfolded at her Los Angeles residence on Monday evening. She took to Instagram to share videos captured by her state-of-the-art security cameras, depicting three shadowy figures clad in black hoodies vaulting over the gate at the entrance of her property and dashing across her driveway.

In a subsequent clip, the trio was seen navigating their way across the yard adjacent to her house, only to swiftly backtrack to the front and scramble off the premises. Addressing the incident in a statement provided to Fox News Digital, Mellencamp expressed gratitude that everyone was unscathed. "Though we're understandably shaken, we're fortunate to possess the latest in home security systems, which successfully deterred the intruders," she said. "Authorities were promptly notified and responded swiftly. We're thankful for the heightened vigilance amidst recent criminal activities in our neighborhood, but we're safe and sound."

In an interview with NBC News Los Angeles, Mellencamp's estranged husband elaborated that the suspects had breached through a side door but fled within seconds after triggering the alarm system. He added that although both he and Mellencamp were home at the time, the intruders had already decamped by the time they descended the stairs.

Fox News Digital verified that the Los Angeles Police Department had responded to two burglary reports in the immediate vicinity that evening, one of them from a neighbor who had experienced a break-in shortly before the attempted intrusion at Mellencamp's home. Both calls were made around 10 p.m. local time, within a span of ten minutes.

News of the attempted break-in emerged amidst Mellencamp's announcement of a miraculous turn in her health battle. The daughter of singer John Mellencamp had been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer earlier this year, following the metastasis of melanoma to her brain and lungs. She had undergone surgery to excise several tumors and was undergoing immunotherapy and radiation treatments.

"I'm feeling great," Mellencamp had posted on Instagram in April. "I have two more immunotherapy sessions left, and hopefully, I'll be done and cancer-free. I'm maintaining a positive outlook, as that's how my doctor addressed me – he said, ‘You've done this. You've got this.’"

Shortly thereafter, Mellencamp exhorted her fans to take charge of their health and shared her belief that doctors might have overlooked her symptoms before her Stage 4 diagnosis. She explained that since her melanoma hadn't surpassed a Stage 1 diagnosis anywhere else in her body, doctors opted against conducting a full-body scan.

"When I finally insisted on it, they said, ‘We didn't do the scans because you didn't have anything above Stage 1 anywhere else on your body…’ But look what transpired," she recounted to Glamour. "It's crucial to advocate for yourself and your health if you're not feeling well."
