Teen Mom’s Kailyn Lowry Slams Claim She Chooses Men Over Her Kids

Kailyn Lowry is defending her actions as a mother of seven. The Teen Mom 2 alum addressed what she called "the assumption" that she prioritizes romantic relationships over her children after moving her boyfriend of less than one year, Isaac "Ike" Knighton, into the family home.

Contrary to that assumption, Kailyn said in a Jan. 18 Patreon video that she carefully considered the kind of person he was before introducing him to the rest of her children. "It's not like I met him on Tinder," she clarified. "I didn't just meet him for the first time and introduce him to my kids."

Kailyn started dating Ike, whom she has known "since pretty much high school," after breaking up with Elijah Scott last summer. She and Elijah share a three-year-old son, Rio, as well as two-year-old twins, Verse and Valley.

"I didn't expect to have a full-blown relationship with Ike," Kailyn continued. "But after the first time we hung out, both of us just knew what it was."

Having been in toxic environments in the past, the 33-year-old felt that her immediate connection with Ike was different. "You cannot deny chemistry and attraction when it's there," she argued. "If I'm not happy as a woman first, I cannot be a good mom. And I'm not saying I'm relying on men for happiness because, if we are being honest and you look at my track record, they have all made me miserable."

Instead, Kailyn explained that she and Ike were "ready to be committed," so they decided to move in together early on in their relationship to get to know each other better. "I do know that it's not ideal," the podcaster admitted in a Jan. 15 Patreon video. "It's selfish, and when you have seven kids, you don't really get to be selfish. But I want to share a life with someone. I don't want to just go through the motions."

Kailyn—who is also the mother of sons Isaac, 16, with Jo Rivera; Lincoln, 12, with Javi Marroquin; as well as Lux, 8, and Creed Romello, 5, with Chris Lopez—added that her previous failed relationships have left her in a "really lonely world."

"I have been so lonely, no matter what relationship I'm in," she lamented. "And this was the first time I felt like I was with my best friend."
