The Boys' eagerly awaited fourth season has finally arrived on Prime Video, with the first three episodes now streaming for fans to devour. And boy, does the premiere episode pack a surprise! The Deep's (Chase Crawford) octopus-loving compatriot, Ambrosius, returns in a turn we never saw coming. He's truly a character of a unique kind - our own Kevin of the sea.
Ambrosius first captivated our attention in season 3's debauched "Herogasm" episode, living a secret life in Deep's cozy apartment at Vought Tower. With his Lord of the Seven Seas superpowers, he can converse with his cephalopod soulmate, and if you're thinking her voice sounds familiar, it's because none other than the esteemed Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange, Avengers: Endgame) lent her voice to the character.
"Once we decided to have Deep engage in regular chatter with his octopus wife, we knew we needed the cream of the crop - a classy British Oscar-winning actress to bring her to life," shares showrunner Eric Kripke with EW. "The list was short, but we didn't know Tilda personally. It wasn't like our other cameos where we reached out to friends of friends. We simply contacted her representative and sent the script. To her eternal credit, her rep responded enthusiastically, saying, 'She loves this and finds it hilariously charming. She'd be delighted to do it.'"
Kripke adds, "Watching such a dignified actress record some of the most absurd dialogue was undoubtedly one of the most thrilling moments of my career."
But Swinton isn't the only star-studded guest in season 4, so buckle up for more surprises!
"The world stands at a precipice. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to seizing the Oval Office, and Homelander, with his iron fist, is consolidating his power," reads the official synopsis for season 4. "Butcher, with mere months left to live, has lost Becca's son and his position as leader of The Boys. The rest of the team is fed up with his lies. With the stakes never higher, they must find a way to work together and save the world before it's too late."
Returning cast members include Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Joining them are new recruits Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
From June 13th, the first three episodes of The Boys' fourth season will be available to stream, with new installments dropping weekly until the season finale on July 18. Get ready for a thrilling ride as the Boys take on their most challenging mission yet!
