"The Devil Wears Prada 2" is capturing headlines as enthusiasts and paparazzi descend upon the film's locations, eager to catch a fleeting glimpse of their beloved characters. Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is embracing this wave of excitement with unreserved enthusiasm. In an interview with IndieWire, McKenna expressed her thrill at the overwhelming response, highlighting that this early buzz only serves to amplify the film's momentum.
"People are camping outside just for a fleeting sight of these actors and characters they adore," she enthused. "Seeing them in costume has truly ignited excitement among fans, especially considering it's a fashion-centric film." While some critics voice concerns about potential spoilers, McKenna asserts that the genuine excitement generated by fans far outweighs these worries.
She observed, "We anticipated a high level of interest. Personally, I hadn't witnessed this magnitude of crowd turnout [at the set] before, but this is the reality we live in today. In many respects, we're engaging with a vastly different world compared to 2006."
For her, the fans' reaction stems from something profound. "It arises from a genuine longing to see these characters once more. As long as everyone's safety is ensured, it's such an honor that people remain so invested."
In July, 20th Century Studios unveiled the first official snapshots from the film, featuring Anne Hathaway reprising her role as Andy Sachs. Since then, on-set photographs have become highly sought-after, particularly outside upscale designer boutiques where filming has taken place.
Joining Hathaway, the film also welcomes back Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, with original director David Frankel once again at the helm. The sequel reportedly follows Streep's Miranda Priestly as she grapples with the decline of the magazine industry, finding herself locked in a power struggle with Blunt's character, now a luxury executive wielding the advertising dollars Miranda desperately craves.
