Is Jude Law set to reprise his iconic role as Mr. Napkin Head? When the star of *The Holiday* was quizzed about whether he'd be joining the cast of the upcoming Apple TV+ reboot of the 2006 festive favorite, he couldn't resist injecting a touch of humor into his response.
"I’m playing the grandfather," Jude quipped with a mischievous grin on the September 18 episode of *Today*, before swiftly setting the record straight: "No, I’m not. Seriously, I’m not." The 52-year-old actor went on to explain that while he had caught wind of the limited series—which is poised to introduce a fresh set of characters swapping homes, much like Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz did in the original film—he was in the dark about most details. "Other than the fact that I don’t think I’m in it," he added with a chuckle.
So, how did Jude first learn about the reboot? It turns out he received a message from none other than the original film’s writer and director, Nancy Meyers. "I think Nancy reached out to me," he recalled, "and asked, 'Have you heard about this?'"
For Jude, having Nancy involved in the creative process would be the sole reason he’d even consider joining the show. "She was the magic that made everything come together," he gushed, clearly still in awe of her talent.
However, Nancy herself had previously expressed surprise at the news of the series. "News to me," she posted on Instagram Stories in August, sharing her astonishment at seeing the announcement pop up as her first post when she opened the app. The 75-year-old filmmaker added a thinking face emoji to her caption but kept her thoughts to herself for the time being.
According to *The Hollywood Reporter*, the new series has enlisted *Catastrophe*’s Rob Delaney as a writer, with Krissie Ducker stepping in as executive producer.
Although Nancy isn't involved in this particular series, she has often toyed with the idea of a *Holiday* movie sequel—and even roped Jude into the conversation. "I’ve seen you interviewed a lot," she remarked to the actor in a December Instagram video, "and they keep asking you if there’s going to be a sequel—what do you think?" Law paused for a moment, gazing directly at the camera, before suddenly slipping into his legendary Mr. Napkin Head persona to deliver a cryptic response that left fans guessing.
