HBO has at long last unveiled the highly anticipated premiere date for the next installment of "The Last of Us." Season 2 will make its grand debut on April 13th at 9 p.m. ET/PT, seamlessly transitioning into the Sunday night prime-time slot vacated by "The White Lotus" upon the conclusion of its third season. As per usual, viewers can indulge in the episodes simultaneously on both HBO and Max.
Accompanying the date announcement, HBO has unveiled a handful of striking new character posters spotlighting Ellie (Bella Ramsey), Joel (Pedro Pascal), and Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), captivating fans with a glimpse into their upcoming journeys.
While the network has whetted appetites with a few tantalizing teasers and images, a full-length trailer remains under wraps. So far, it remains somewhat of a mystery how closely Season 2 will adhere to the narrative of "The Last of Us Part II." Francesca Orsi, an executive at HBO, recently revealed to Deadline that the series is poised to span four seasons, suggesting that Season 2 will only scratch the surface of the second game's expansive storyline.
Orsi's statements align with earlier hints from co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who acknowledged the second game's breadth as too immense to encapsulate within a single television season. For an exhaustive breakdown of what we know thus far about Season 2, click here.
"The Last of Us" dives back into the narrative five years after the events of Season 1, finding Joel and Ellie embroiled in a treacherous conflict with one another and a world even more perilous and unpredictable than they had left behind.
Returning cast members include Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria, while the newly announced ensemble, joining Dever, comprises Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O'Hara will also make a guest appearance, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the mix.
