The news of the passing of Wenne Alton Davis, better known as the vibrant actress who brought life to the character of a police officer in season 5 of the Amazon Prime series "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," at the age of 60, has sent shockwaves through the entertainment world. Davis, born Wendy Davis, was fatally struck by a car just before 9 p.m. on Monday, December 8, as she crossed the streets of New York City.

According to the NYPD, a black 2023 Cadillac XT6, driven by a 61-year-old male, was making a left-hand turn at West 53rd Street and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan when it unfortunately collided with Davis. "Davis sustained severe trauma to the head and body," the police stated in a statement to PEOPLE. "EMS responded and transported her to Mount Sinai West, where she was pronounced deceased."

The operator of the Cadillac remained at the scene and was not injured as a result of the collision. However, no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.

Edward Reynoso, one of Davis's neighbors, shared his last interaction with her shortly after her death with the New York Daily News. He recalled Davis telling him, "I love you, I appreciate you."

Davis's career in acting spanned over a decade, with her role in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" being her most notable. She also appeared in films and TV shows such as "Rescue Me" (2009), "Shame" (2011), "The Normal Heart" (2014), "American Odyssey" (2015), "Blindspot" (2019), "New Amsterdam" (2019), and "Girls5eva" (2022).

This is yet another loss for the "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" cast, following the passing of Brian Tarantina in 2019. Tarantina played Jackie, the emcee of the comedy club The Gaslight, where Rachel Brosnahan's Midge Maisel first performed her routine. The show's cast and crew paid tribute to Tarantina in a heartfelt message on X, stating, "The Gaslight won't be the same without you. Thank you, Brian Tarantina, for sharing all those laughs. Sending love to his family and friends in this difficult time."
