Netflix has confirmed to TVLine that "The Recruit" will be exiting the espionage arena after two gripping seasons. The heart-wrenching news broke on Wednesday, shared by actor Colton Dunn through a poignant message on social media: "Tragic news, folks. 'The Recruit' has been canceled. What a letdown. I'll post some nostalgic photos and fun behind-the-scenes moments on Instagram, but I wanted you to hear it from me first. If you tuned in, thank you. And hey, I'm officially on the market! Hire me for your next TV project!"
Created by Alexi Hawley, "The Recruit" revolved around Noah Centineo's character, Noah Hendricks, a CIA lawyer who, through no fault of his own, found himself at the epicenter of numerous international melodramas. Season 1 saw Hendricks navigating the treacherous waters of Russia, while Season 2 transported him to the bustling city of Seoul.
Joining Centineo and Dunn in the show's sophomore run were Teo Yoo, Aarti Mann, Fivel Stewart, Kristian Bruun, Kaylah Zander, Maddie Hasson, Angel Parker, and Vondie Curtis-Hall, among others.
Following the conclusion of "The Recruit's" second season, which will now serve as its bittersweet series finale, Hawley revealed to TVLine that his primary objective was to depict Owen's "journey of growth this season. Working at the CIA isn't like college or law school; there are genuine repercussions for his actions. It was crucial for us to showcase his struggle with that reality. This isn't all fun and games; lives are at stake."
