Comedian Bill Burr is currently in negotiations to join the star-studded ensemble of Aaron Sorkin and Sony Pictures’ upcoming film, *The Social Network Part II*. Sorkin, who secured an Academy Award for his screenplay of the 2010 original, has penned the script and will helm this Sony drama, drawing inspiration from a series of articles by Jeff Horwitz for *The Wall Street Journal*, collectively known as "The Facebook Files."

Sorkin has been meticulously assembling a dynamic roster of next-generation talent. The current call sheet boasts names like Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madison, and Jeremy Strong, all of whom are finalizing their deals. While the acclaimed 2010 drama delved into the inception of Facebook—now known as Meta—the narrative of the new installment will pivot to explore how the company’s internal reporting highlighted the detrimental impacts of its social media platforms on teenagers and children. It will delve into how the company was aware of the rampant spread of misinformation inciting violence, as well as its role in contributing to the violent insurrection on January 6, 2021.
White, Madison, and Strong are set to portray real-life figures: White will embody *Wall Street Journal* reporter Horwitz, Madison will take on the role of Frances Haugen, the data engineer turned whistleblower, and Strong is rumored to be playing CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Meanwhile, Burr is slated to portray a character that is either fictional or a composite of several individuals, according to insiders.
Production is slated to commence later this year in Vancouver. Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser are on board as producers.
Burr, who has been nominated for Emmy and Grammy Awards for his stand-up comedy and specials, is also a leading podcaster. While he has made cameo appearances in films and TV shows such as *The King of Staten Island*, *Breaking Bad*, and *The Mandalorian*, he made his directorial debut and starred in a leading role with *Old Dads*, a 2023 comedy that premiered as the most-watched film globally on Netflix in its first and second week, amassing 29.6 million views in its initial 10 days. Burr received rave reviews for his Broadway debut earlier this year, sharing the stage with Kieran Culkin and Bob Odenkirk in *Glengarry Glen Ross*. Moreover, he has lined up his next directorial venture, *Born Losers*, which he co-wrote and will produce and star in.
Burr is represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Schreck Rose.
