Tara Woodcox is revealing the truth behind her viral, albeit unconventional, hack. After her "Travel Hack video" from November 2025 suggesting that hotel guests use the room's coffee maker to clean their underwear went viral, the TikTok influencer addressed her critics, clarifying her experience with this controversial method. "I've never actually done that, but it's really funny you guys," she said in a TikTok video shared on February 23. "The amount of you that think..."
As she explained the hack, her family members in the background chimed in, asking, "What even makes you think to do that?" Tara responded that she "heard it from a friend," which elicited a response from one of them saying, "Your friend isn't very smart." Despite this feedback, Tara thanked those who defended her in the comments and further explained the origin of her post.

"It was more of something that I posted to be like, 'Why not use the coffee pots?'" she said. "I learned that from a friend who was a flight attendant and I was like, 'Ew.' But I've never been into those Keurigs anyway, not only because of the underwear, but because they're dirty and no hotel cleans them."
Regarding the underwear part, she added, "I don't know what to tell you guys. It wasn't real because you guys are having way too much fun thinking it's real. It's whatever. Better to just think what you want to think."
Indeed, the public had mixed reactions when Tara shared her original video on November 5th and labeled it "one of the coolest tricks ever." "All you have to do is put your underwear where you would put the coffee grounds, you close it. You press brew and it puts scorching hot water through it," she said as she sat in front of a hotel coffee machine and demonstrated the process without wearing underwear. "Then you use the hair dryer in the bathroom to blow-dry those bad boys and you got yourself a cleaner pair of underwear. I swear."
Unfortunately for Tara, many viewers did not agree with her method, and they took to the comments to share alternatives. One user wrote, "Other options: 1) BUY new underwear 2) Wash the underwear when you shower 3) Wash in the sink 4) BE PREPARED AND PACK EXTRA UNDERWEAR." While others pointed out that Tara's goal to deter people from using the coffee makers was a success, writing, "If your mission was to get everyone on the planet to stop using hotel coffee makers, you just did it. Congrats!"
