Timothée Chalamet gears up for his triumphant return to Saturday Night Live, accompanied by an entourage of his very own doppelgangers. The promo for his upcoming dual role as both host and musical guest on the comedy-sketch series teases an exciting twist.
In the clip, Chalamet, the charismatic star of Complete Unknown, expresses his trepidation about leading the show while also taking center stage as the musical guest. "I've never ventured into these waters before," he admits. "Hosting SNL and performing as the musical guest in the same week is a herculean task. I need to concentrate on perfecting the tunes, so I've enlisted some help to handle the hosting responsibilities."
As he speaks, four Chalamet look-alikes appear, each donning iconic outfits reminiscent of Willy Wonka, Bob Dylan, and more. The Oscar-nominee continues, "Tasks like brainstorming with the writers or honing my monologue require my undivided attention. And, of course, who could forget listening to Mikey Day regale us with tales of hosting 'Is It Cake?'"
Chalamet then jokes about juggling his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, deploying one of his doubles to stand in for him. Earlier this month, it was revealed that the Call Me by Your Name heartthrob would reprise his hosting duties on SNL, while also serving as the musical guest—a rare feat accomplished by a non-professional singer in three decades. For his role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown, Chalamet honed his singing skills and learned to play the guitar, garnering him immense acclaim.
The celebrity look-alike craze gained momentum at a Chalamet event in New York in October, with the Dune actor himself making a surprise appearance. Since then, similar contests have sprouted worldwide, featuring look-alikes of celebrities like Paul Mescal, Glen Powell, Miles Teller, Zayn Malik, and Harry Styles.
Chalamet first charmed audiences on SNL in 2020 and returned again in 2023. His eagerly anticipated third appearance will take place this Saturday, January 25th.
