The chaotic saga of Bree and Oliver is far from reaching its conclusion. Tom Ellis, who portrays the charismatic college professor entangled in a tumultuous romance with Catherine Missal's Bree in the second season of "Tell Me Lies," recently disclosed to People magazine that he will reprise his role for the upcoming third installment.
"Indeed, I'm heading back. In fact, I'm set to arrive on Saturday to commence filming," Ellis revealed at the CBS Fest in Los Angeles. Married to "Tell Me Lies" showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer, Ellis also shared that he has already perused "the first four episodes" and hinted that viewers are in for an unforgettable season.
"It retains its dark, toxic, and humorous edge like never before," added the "Lucifer" actor. "Just when you think our characters couldn't sink any lower, they manage to surpass even your wildest expectations."
In season two, Oliver relentlessly pursues Bree, despite being married to Marianne (Gabriella Pession), Bree's own college professor. Later revelations uncover that Oliver and Marianne share an open relationship, with his wife being fully aware of his affair—a detail Oliver keeps hidden from Bree.
Ellis further teased that his character will experience "numerous redeeming moments" in season three, noting, "To be honest, the spotlight isn't solely on my character this time around, but it remains intricately woven into Bree's narrative."
While the specifics of season three remain shrouded in secrecy, fans eagerly anticipate the revelation of the mysterious individual Bree was seen conversing with on the phone in the 2015 timeline, just before her wedding day to Branden Cook's Evan.
Some enthusiasts speculated that it could be Oliver. However, following the season two finale in October, Oppenheimer told The Hollywood Reporter, "Having it be Oliver would probably be too predictable. I'm sure some have guessed as much. But I believe many also recognize that it's more likely not Oliver."
Also starring in "Tell Me Lies" are Grace Van Patten, Jackson White, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Alicia Crowder, Edmund Donovan, and Thomas Doherty.
