Tom Sandoval is stepping into the spotlight to showcase his musical prowess on *America's Got Talent*. The former *Vanderpump Rules* star took to the stage with his cover band, Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras, delivering a captivating rendition of A-ha's timeless 1985 hit "Take on Me" for the panel comprising Simon Cowell, Sofía Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Mel B. During the surprise audition aired on June 24th, Tom and his band garnered immense praise.
"You made me smile," exclaimed the *Spice Girls* veteran. "You radiated happy vibes. And besides being one of my all-time favorite tunes, you all seemed to be having the time of your lives up there."
Sofía, impressed by the 42-year-old reality TV personality—whose friend Tom Schwartz and girlfriend Victoria Lee Robinson cheered him on from the audience—commended him on looking "fabulous" during his performance. Howie, on the other hand, labeled him "a showman par excellence."
"He clearly takes this very seriously," remarked the comedian. "For me, it was a delight."
Simon, as expected, offered a slightly more critical assessment, yet he couldn't resist applauding the ensemble. "The vocals weren't perfect, Tom, I'll be honest," he began. "But not everyone who steps onto this stage is seeking a record deal. Sometimes, it's just about staying true to oneself."
Despite Simon's candid feedback, Tom and his band advanced to the next round of the competition. "It means the world to me to see people from all walks of life coming together," Tom shared with host Terry Crews backstage after his performance. "Their joy, cheers, and support meant everything to us."
Before the audition, Tom opened up to the panel about the significance of his band amidst the 2023 cheating scandal involving his exes Ariana Madix and Rachel "Raquel" Leviss, revealing that he was in "a profoundly dark place" at the time.
"I felt as if I had lost everything in my life," he confessed. "This band was my sole beacon of hope."
Tom had also showcased his vocal talents during his brief stint on season 10 of *The Masked Singer* in 2023, where he concealed his identity as The Diver. Unfortunately, his journey was cut short, and he was eliminated after just two episodes.
