Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are eagerly anticipating a night filled with enchanting melodies at their upcoming wedding. Less than a month after the Kansas City Chiefs' star tight end popped the question to the "Life of a Showgirl" songstress, he offered a glimpse into their wedding planning progress—revealing that they've already settled on a decision that often divides engaged couples: Should they hire a DJ or opt for a live band?
As he confided to guest Jimmy Fallon during the September 17th episode of "New Heights," "Yeah, I think we're more the live music type, you know?" The 35-year-old also confirmed that now that his and Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City steakhouse is thriving, planning their wedding has become his top priority. "That's the next big step," he shared. "And that one's gonna be a breeze—I just need to figure out how to secure a football win first."
Meanwhile, Taylor has remained tight-lipped about her engagement publicly since her infamous Instagram post on August 26th, which confirmed the thrilling news. However, she previously offered a glimpse into her wedding planning philosophy in a 2012 interview with Cosmopolitan. "I want to build a life with someone that's grounded in both of our dreams," Taylor explained. "I don't want it to just be like, 'So, I've got this scrapbook. Inside, I've got all the fabric swatches for my wedding dress. And I've also picked out a tuxedo from a catalog for you to wear.'"
Indeed, Taylor emphasized that she wanted her—then hypothetical—future fiancé to be an integral part of every step of the planning process. As she put it, "I don't want him to ever question whether his presence even matters."
Although Taylor articulated these desires over a decade before she and Travis even became a couple, she's found precisely what she was looking for in a partner. After all, Taylor admitted that her younger self had somewhat manifested him, especially in the way he publicly pursued her. "I was like, 'If this guy isn't crazy,'" Taylor reminisced about Travis' friendship bracelet mishap during her August 13th appearance on "New Heights." "This is kind of what I've been writing songs about, dreaming of happening to me since I was a teenager."
