Following a viral social media uproar over snaps of Tylor Chase, a former Nickelodeon child star, in a disheveled state, the emotional outcry prompted his father, Joseph Mendez Jr., to break his silence with an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. The 36-year-old's journey with mental health has been a long and tumultuous one, as he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia in 2015.

"When he's Tylor, he's a wonderful person," his father shares, adding that the family has been seeking treatment options for over a decade, including support for substance use and mental health care. Unfortunately, despite being admitted to rehab in 2021, Tylor opted to discontinue medication and resumed his substance use.
Since leaving recovery, Tylor relocated to California, where his mother, Paula Moisio, also a realtor, resides. However, a clip in early September showed him covered in dirt and wearing tattered clothes, leading to speculation about his living situation.
When asked about being homeless, Tylor denied it, saying, "I'm not really actively homeless at this time. I'm thinking that I would like to go see my dad in Georgia relatively shortly." He also mentioned having the necessary arrangements in place to stay in Georgia and even hinted at a housing assistance program.
It's worth noting that Tylor is best remembered for his role in Nickelodeon's Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. His story serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by those struggling with mental health and addiction, and the importance of seeking and adhering to treatment.
