"We R Who We R," and that sentiment rings especially true for Megan Stalter. While the "Hacks" star stole the spotlight and drew waves of laughter at the 2025 MTV VMAs on September 7, strutting her stuff on stage dressed as a coffee filter, there was at least one social media user who just couldn't seem to place her (though they gave it their best shot). Posting a snapshot of Megan and Ariana Grande striking a pose together at the event, the user captioned the post on X (formerly known as Twitter), "Ariana Grande with Ava Max."

In a subsequent update, the user shared more pictures of the duo embracing, writing, "Ariana Grande with Kesha or something at the #VMAs." Eventually, the fan threw up their hands in defeat, exclaiming, "I can’t figure out who the f--k this is cus apparently it’s not Ava Max either." Megan, renowned for her viral red-carpet fashion statements, including her Diet Coke ensemble at the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, took to Instagram to share screenshots of the posts, sparking a hilariously heartwarming response from the "Wicked" actress herself.

"'Kesha or something,'" Ariana quipped in her comment on Megan's post. She also penned a separate comment to Megan, gushing, "i love you sm." Other celebrities joined in on the fun, with Amy Schumer chiming in with, "Hilar," and "Saltburn" actor Archie Madekwe adding four laugh-crying emojis to the mix.

Beyond sharing this comical moment with the "Too Much" actress, Ariana had a whirlwind night at the VMAs. She attended the ceremony surrounded by her family, including her mom Joan Grande, brother Frankie Grande and his husband Hale Grande, as well as her dad Edward Butera, whom she thanked in her acceptance speech after her video "Brighter Days Ahead" clinched the Moon Person for Best Pop (Ariana also snagged the award for Video of the Year).

"Thank you to my dad who acted in this video for the first time in his life," she declared. "He is the best scene partner and dad in the world." In addition to expressing gratitude to her fans and team, she wrapped up her speech with a moment that quickly went viral. "Thank you to my therapists," Ariana continued, "and gay people. I love you. Thank you."
