Produced by FX in collaboration with Disney+ Latin America, Necaxa narrates the ambitious journey of Eva Longoria as she endeavors to revitalize one of Mexico's oldest and most legendary football clubs, Club Necaxa. Alongside her are fellow owners Rob Mac, aka the rebranded Rob McElhenney (of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" fame), and Ryan Reynolds, fresh from their remarkable revitalization of Wrexham AFC.

But who is this enigmatic Rob Mac? None other than the global entrepreneur who legally changed his name from Rob McElhenney, citing pronunciation difficulties, especially for non-English speakers. This reveal coincides with Necaxa's press announcement, marking Rob Mac's official debut to the world. The name change has been a long-standing inside joke among the Wrexham owners, even inspiring a birthday musical video by Reynolds in 2023, featuring famous faces such as Kaitlin Olson, McElhenney's wife and co-star, teaching people how to pronounce his name correctly.

In the catchy tune, Reynolds croons, "Sure, he's got a pretty face that people recognize, they think they know him from his hit TV show. But despite the fame and accolades, one thing they don't know is how to say his name." The lyrics go on to explain that the name rhymes with "tackle penny," emphasizing the myriad ways people mangle his surname.

Olson has shared that their two young sons aren't too thrilled about the change, given that they share the last name. "The kids are really not happy about it, because they have that last name. And so do I, legally!" she noted. Perhaps a future as Kait Mac awaits?

Returning to Necaxa, this gripping bilingual docuseries captures the tumultuous and transformative journey of Club Necaxa. From staff shake-ups and career-altering injuries to the unwavering determination of a football team striving to defy expectations and restore hope to Aguascalientes, Mexico. Once a dominant force in Mexican football, Necaxa has navigated decades of instability, including relocations and constant reinventions. Despite its fluctuating legacy, a devoted fan base continues to hold onto the dream that their beloved 'Rayos' will rise again.

In essence, Necaxa is Welcome to Wrexham, but south of our border and far beyond Wales' confines. Executive produced by an esteemed team including Eva Longoria, Cris Abrego, Rachelle Mendez, Nicholas Frenkel, Jackie Cohn, George Dewey, Rob Mac, Ryan Reynolds, Alex Fumero, and Diana E. Gonzales, the series is brought to life by Hyphenate Media Group, More Better Productions, Maximum Effort, and 3 Arts Entertainment.
