Alex Warren's bond with his mentor isn't an ordinary one. The "Ordinary" singer jokingly revealed that Ed Sheeran stopped responding to his emails due to the frequency of his messages. In fact, Alex shared that his last note to the "Shape of You" singer, where he apologized for his relentless correspondence, went unanswered. "I swear to god, I can show you right now," Alex told Erin Lim Rhodes exclusively during the Live From E! Stream: Spotify Best New Artist Party 2026 on Jan. 29. Recalling the email, he said, "So sorry for emailing you. My New Year's resolution is to email you less."
While Alex may be making light of their communication habits, he insists that he genuinely plans to scale back. "My New Year's resolution is to email him less," the 25-year-old admitted. "Because I email him every single time the slightest convenience happens in my life."
However, that doesn't mean Alex wants to completely change his efforts to reach out to his fellow artists. Indeed, after discovering he was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammys, he revealed that he made sure to congratulate fellow nominees Lola Young, Katseye, The Marías, Leon Thomas, Olivia Dean, and sombr on this incredible honor. "I FaceTimed everyone, like literally every Best New Artist," Alex said. "Or I tried to FaceTime as many as I could, and I got a few of them. I had an amazing conversation with sombr and Addison."
For the former Hype House member, showing support for other artists is simply part of his nature. "I'm such a people person," Alex noted. "And I love how everyone's art. If you look at the best new artists, all of us are different, and I love that so much." He added, "And I know I was nervous, so I wanted to make sure everyone else was good."
